As we mentioned before, installing ceramic tiles is not the most difficult thing in the world. It is not as easy as carpeting, but still. Firstly you should decide whether you are willing to install the tiles yourself or you would like to hire a professional (this is a wise choice when you have larger surfaces or you would like special techniques to be used).
Once you have decided you can handle it, you should equip yourself with the right tools, materials, the right amount of tiles and some spare time.
Some hints for those DIYs of you, we have a couple of hints:
- measure! This is the most important hint of all – the measurements should include the spaces for grout if you are planning to use it. Before installing the tiles, place them on the planned surface to see which tiles need cutting.
- Find the right adhesive which is suitable for the size, type and the planned location of your tiles;
- When installing tiles to a bathroom or other place where there is plenty of water-use, be sure to waterproof the surface before installing tiles to avoid water seeping through the spaces between the tiles.
