Ceramic Tiles are popping up!!? | |
I noticed a few weeks ago when I stepped on a tile it sounded hollow, I got up this morning and I have a hump in the floor around that tile. My tile has been down 5 yrs and never had a problem anyone have any idea why this happened and what i can do (besides rip up the floor and start again)
I have a cement subfloor
Answers:
1You don't say what kind of sub-floor you have.
If concrete, it shouldn't have occurred. You may be able to lift it and re-glue. The grout will come up with it, and need re-grouted.
If a "wood strip", same, but it will occur again.
Strip wood expands and contracts.
If strip wood, a suitable underlayment should have been installed.
In any event, it should be repaired best way possible. The tile may crack.
I doubt that you'll be able to match it after 5 years. Like everything, patterns change, aside from the fact the same pattern may not match from a different "run". Almost like "dye lots".
