marble tiles on fireplace?

we are remodeling our fireplace to put up the plasma tv. someone suggested a marble fireplace over a wood fireplace.. does anyone know if this is good and wht it would look like?

Answers:

1I have marble and I hate it, but that is a personal reference of mine. Marble can be good if you like it and it comes in a WHOLE lot of colors, size strips and/or tiles. Mine is a gray and white color and it just doesn't go with the rest of the house.
